Pro Sound News Europe reports on Flashlight’s Formidable return

Pro Sound News Europe recent article, “Spring refurb: Formidable return for the Turbosound Flashlight” did an excellent job of summarising Formidable Audio’s two-year journey to source and refurbish possibly the world’s largest and finest collection of Flashlight Turbosound.

Turbosound and Britannia Row alumni involvement

The article also includes excellent background on the vital contributions from pro sound industry figures such as Pete Brotzman, Danny Cooklin, David Cole, George McKechnie and Tony Andrews.

As the article explains, the return of Flashlight for the 21st century has indeed been a Formidable undertaking: each and every each unit has been meticulously renovated and upgraded to better-than-new, modern-day standard. At every step there has been expert guidance and hands-on help from the Turbosound and Britannia Row alumni mentioned above, and many others too.

Searching the world from top to bottom

Britannia Row legend and founder of Crystal Pro Audio Pete Brotzman was one of the first to get involved. Pete initially sourced 12 Flashlight tops and 12 bottoms. He then helped Formidable to track down much more stock from a company called Oceania in New Zealand. From there our Flashlight collection just grew and grew as we sourced more of these fantastic units from around the world.

A Formidable sound that can fill Wembley or the O2

Today we have enough Flashlight to rig venues the size of Wembley Arena or the O2 – and to have performers and audience alike marvelling at the sound quality. And let’s not forget that Flashlight rigs can be tailored for smaller and mid-size venues too.
